22 August, 2017-Lestina Kachokera is a 16-year-old girl from Chembe Village, Cape Maclear. She is a self-border at Cape Maclear Community Day Secondary School and she will be starting form 2 come the next academic year.
Lestina’s Parents are poor hence cannot afford to fund her education. Growing up in a community that doesn’t support girls education has motivated her to become a Teacher when she’s done with her education. She wants to be a teacher because that will give her an opportunity to be a role model to female students.
Lestina has been awarded the Maranatha scholarship.
When Lestina heard that she has been considered for the scholarship she responded; “You will never regret assisting me. This is my opportunity to really excel and succeed. Being a self-boarder I meet lots of challenges but now am so happy that someone out there has come to my rescue.”
